"I am a phoenix risen from the ashes. I have had experiences that made me want to give up my dreams; and even my life. There have been people close to me, who have hacked away at my roots, threatening to unearth me and sever me from my life force. In their wake I found they were mere catalysts for me to uncover my own greatness and “be my dream” It is well to be reminded that these events do not dilute or define us. Our truth is untouchable”

Jennifer Vallance

The land I am standing on today is the traditional territory of many nations including the Anishnaabe people, part of treaty #20, and Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. I also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaty signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
